Phuket, Thailand is populated with tourists from all around the world! It is a popular destination for people to visit, have fun on the beach, do some surfing and hop on Island Tours to visit some of the most beautiful places in the world. We came to Phuket, Thailand not knowing what to expect. It was a wonderful trip especially when we get a chance to visit the Islands. Explore and visit Phuket at it’s best!!
Top things to do in Phuket, Thailand.
A) Beach Hopping
There are many different beaches that you can find in Phuket, Thailand. Well, since the sea surrounds the entire Island, that is obvious! We did not have the chance to hop to the different beaches. But the few beaches that we went to was Patong Beach, Mai Khao Beach and Rawai Beach. My favorite beach out of all of them was Mai Khao Beach. The sand, the strong tidal waves made the experience so fun and memorable! I was laughing like a little kid, playing with the sand and relaxing on the beach! Click here to find out more about Mai Khao Beach!
1) Patong Beach
Many tourists flock to Patong Beach every day. I am not a fan of having too many people around me, and the thought of carrying our Beach items like towels and many more was dreading. I did hear from a friend I met you recommended Freedom Beach. Freedom Beach was more peaceful than the other beaches in Phuket, Thailand and they were charged a fee of about 300 TBH per person for the entry.
2) Rawai Beach
We came to know of Rawai Beach, Phuket when we stayed at Serenity Resort & Residences. It was an excellent resort with many facilities and a relaxing stay. Well, the beach wasn’t fascinating like the rest of the beaches in Phuket. We wanted to do some kayaking, but it was not possible as tides rise till so high in the afternoon. Click here to find out more about our fantastic Resort in Phuket, Thailand!
Rawai Beach was more of a dock for launching passengers to visit the rest of the Island around Phuket Town! In front of Rawai Beach are filled with street stalls selling fresh seafood where you can eat and enjoy the sea breeze.
3) Nai Harn Beach
Serenity Resort and Residences Staff recommended Nai Harn Beach. They did mention that the beach at Nai Harn was perfect for swimming! We did not manage to make a trip down to the resort which we were staying at was too comfortable. It was vast and spacious that we did not want to leave the resort. Click here to find out more about Serenity Resort and Residences.
4) Other Beaches
Other Beaches that you can consider visiting is Karon Beach ( another famous beach destination ), Kamala Beach and Surin Beach. I did not sightsee these places myself. I can’t give you the best advice on which are the best. Click here to find out more about the best beaches to visit in Phuket, Thailand!

We went to city sightseeing on our own by renting a car from the airport. We got a Fortuner Car for about 100 SGD a day which can accommodate about 1-8 people in the car. You can always go for city sightseeing with the tour agencies! The experience would be more extensive like riding on elephants and the popular ATVs that many love.
C) City Sightseeing
City sightseeing was lovely! We got to see overviews of Phuket Island, check out beaches, understand the religious aspect of Phuket and enjoy the beautiful nature!
6) Big Buddha
One of the most memorable sights that I can remember in Phuket. It was a beautiful place to be. As you park your car or exit your vehicle, you will be greeted with a sign that tells you to be in proper attire, fret not, there will be scarfs provided for you to cover your legs and hands. As you walk to be front, you will see a long flight of stairs that you need to climb to visit the main temple. The main temple is enormous, and many people take their time to explore the area, receive blessings from the monks in the main hall and circumambulate around the Buddha. This was a place that is very popular with locals as well. I saw many locals putting their offerings in front of the main Buddha statue in the surrounding area of the temple, and you will get to see Phuket’s view. It was indeed beautiful!
The Big Buddha’s temple also offers people with vegetarian food.
7) Elephant Riding and ATVs
Elephant Riding can be found in many areas of Phuket. One favorite place that people visit is located near the Big Buddha’s attraction. As you drive up the hill to the Big Buddha’s temple, midway you will find elephants and people riding on it. Click here to find out more now!
8) Promthep Cape
Not far from the Big Buddha’s attraction is Promthep Cape. Many tourists visit Promthep Cape for its Picturesque Cape and lookout point, especially during sunset times. Sadly, we didn’t manage to visit there during sunset times, but the view of the place overlooking the rocks, Sea, and mountain was indeed beautiful. Parking was relatively easy. There are a few shops located at Promthep Cape for you to do some local shopping!
9) Wat Chalong
Wat Chalong is one of the most important temples in Phuket, Thailand and it extends a warm welcome to locals who want to pray and tourists who want to learn about the unique Buddist Culture in Thailand. We came to Wat Chalong a little late as we started our city sightseeing a bit late. Wat Chalong holds temples hall that had past abbots in human-sized wax models. It was was interesting to explore these temples, understand Buddhism in Thailand and take pictures!
The structures and designs of this place made picture-taking so fun! We came to Wat Chalong last as we started from Big Buddha and slowly drove down.
10) Khao Rang Hill
Khao Rang Hill is one of Phuket’s most famous hill. From here, you can catch a land’s eye view of the city and even see the beautiful sea along the coast! The breeze up here is fantastic! We almost missed this spot, and we did manage to see it in the end! Over here, there is a restaurant that you can sit in to enjoy the view, have your meal and relax. Besides catching Phuket’s excellent city view, you will also be able to see monkeys near the carpark area! It was hilarious as we captured monkeys looking at each other’s butts. Many tourists were also playing with the monkeys, and their reaction to us was so cute and funny!
11) Bangla Road at Patong
Bangla Road is the place to be in if you love nightlife, clubbing, and pubes! The entire stretch of road is lined with pubs and clubs. At night, you will be able to see ladies pole dancing, entertaining foreigners who enter the pub. Besides that, you will be entertained by street performers who come to Patong at night to perform. Bangla Road at downtown Phuket is a very lively place to be in.
12) Jungceylon Shopping Centre at Patong
Jungceylon Shopping Centre is located on the opposite side of Bangla Road. This is one popular Shopping Cantre in Patong that has ground floor restaurants, cinemas, food court and local shopping. If you are looking for something to eat that is affordable, you can always go to the food court at the basement of Jungceylon Shopping Centre! They have a large variety of food stores that you can choose from. Well, it doesn’t give you the leisure of delicious street food style, but it is still tasty!
13) Simon Cabaret Show
The famous musical ladyboy show in Phuket (Patong). They wear very fanciful costumes, and you get to watch the fate of the art lighting.
We didn’t go for it as we read the reviews on TripAdvisor and it mentioned the ladyboy demanding money from those who take pictures, and it can be quite expensive. Besides that, they can be quite rough and scary. Just be careful!
14) Phuket Fantasea
Phuket Fantasea is another destination that is popular among tourists! Oer here, you get to watch a cultural themed show with elephants, an animal exhibit, and shopping! There is an international buffet option that you can go for to enhance your entire experience at Phuket Fantasea. Click here to find out more!
We didn’t go for Phuket Fantasea as the reviews on TripAdvisor was talking about elephants and how they looked depressed throughout the show. Well, I am an animal lover myself, I don’t see the need to pay for Fantasea and look at the elephants suffer. It does break my heart. This is my preferences, definitely up to you!

It is a short little hike up to the waterfall after parking your vehicle. There are not many people in this area, but some tourists do visit here to take a dip into the clear spring waters and enjoy! If you have extra time in Phuket, you can always visit the waterfalls here and experience it!
